Nos referimos a \u201cThe Next Day\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Para hablar de este \u00e1lbum, hay que partir necesariamente por la car\u00e1tula, que es una negaci\u00f3n o reversi\u00f3n directa de la portada del alabado disco \u201cHeroes\u201d de 1977. Seg\u00fan Jonathan Barnbrook, dise\u00f1ador de la portada, la idea surgi\u00f3 de una conversaci\u00f3n con Bowie en la que buscaron generar una imagen que impactara directamente al p\u00fablico. A la vez, tiene relaci\u00f3n directa con el silencio musical de diez a\u00f1os del artista brit\u00e1nico y las cr\u00edticas al negocio de la m\u00fasica y al star-system que se deslizan en algunas de sus letras.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El \u00e1lbum adem\u00e1s, representa un retorno a las ra\u00edces m\u00e1s rockeras de Bowie y profundiza en la sonoridad de discos como el mismo \u201cHeroes\u201d y \u201cScary Monsters (and Super Creeps)\u201d (1980), dejando parcialmente atr\u00e1s la serie de \u00e1lbumes m\u00e1s electr\u00f3nicos y experimentales que comenz\u00f3 en 1997 con \u201cEarthling\u201d, terminando el 2003 con \u201cReality\u201d. Digo parcialmente, porque ciertos remanentes de la b\u00fasqueda de Bowie en aquellos discos se pueden percibir en temas como \u201cIf You Can See Me\u201d, para m\u00ed, uno de los mejores del \u00e1lbum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Esa marca registrada por Bowie es la que se palpa en el entramado de casi todas las canciones, con la siempre perfecta producci\u00f3n de Tony Visconti (que tambi\u00e9n hizo los arreglos orquestales de muchos de los temas) y en compa\u00f1\u00eda de un batall\u00f3n de m\u00fasicos de excelencia como Gail Ann Dorsey, Tony Levin, David Torn, Earl Slick y Sterling Campbell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El tema que da nombre al disco nos recuerda el estilo adoptado por Bowie en ese glorioso proyecto llamado Tin Machine; en esta misma senda podemos mencionar a \u201cI\u2019d Rather Be High\u201d y la contundente \u201c(You Will) Set The World On Fire\u201d, mientras que otras canciones parecen seguir y perfeccionar la senda abierta por Bowie a partir de \u201cBlack Tie White Noise\u201d, como ocurre con \u201cDirty Boys\u201d, \u201cHow Does The Grass Grow?\u201d y \u201cThe Stars (Are Out Tonight)\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Por letra, composici\u00f3n y sonoridad, me quedo con algunos temas que se hacen memorables e imprescindibles en la discograf\u00eda del Camale\u00f3n, como \u201cLove is Lost\u201d, la inmejorable \u201cHeat\u201d (un gui\u00f1o perfecto para los que amamos la Trilog\u00eda de Berl\u00edn) pero por sobre todo, esa vol\u00e1til y poderosa balada que es \u201cWhere Are We Now?\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Por \u00faltimo, mencionar que la edici\u00f3n deluxe tiene otros tres temas que redondean todav\u00eda m\u00e1s esta entrega del Duque Blanco, en un \u00e1lbum que volvi\u00f3 a colocarlo en el n\u00famero uno de los charts en casi todo el mundo.
